SQLab are one of the few saddle companies that have conducted studies and tests to prove that pressure is reduced along the perineum with their designs.
The first question in saddle choice is what shape suits my bottom. Now, only a bike fitter and / or trialling a range of saddles on your turbo will get the right answer, but we have to start with searching what's out there first.
SQLab's may be right for a lot of riders, but we specifically recommend them for riders looking to:
Most will say, but sure doesn't everyone want to do that?!
In fact, we have known riders who want more pressure on the front. Do think about where your pains are and what would feel like the best outcome.
We think that a lot of you out there are looking for less pressure in these sensitive areas, that's why we are backing SQ Lab's in the UK.
SQLab have created a large range of saddles, and if want less pressure at the front and more at the back (we can't remove pressure completely), then you would like to know which SQLab is right for you.
So assuming you have bought into the SQ Lab concept here are the questions you should ask yourself:
|Cushioning||Low (6 mm)||Medium (9 mm)||High (12 mm)|
|Nose width||Narrow (40 mm)||Medium (44 mm)||Wide (46 mm)|
|Hard wearing?||Single Cover||Kevlar sides||Kevlar + Tough Cover|
SQ Lab are aiming to create a saddle for everyone so have a huge range. At the moment Kit Radar are only listing the Ergowave designs. If you are a commuter and need more cushioning than the above, then the Ergolux might be a better option - please contact us as we can still send those to you.
With SQlabs's active technology the 612 Ergowave was specifically designed to accommodate the requirements of both competitive and leisure cyclists both on the road or mountain bike.
The raised rear section and wave like shape contouring from the rear to the front make it perfect for a dynamic riding position on the road or mountain bike.
This listing is for the 612 Ergowave, here are the other versions we stock

SQ Lab have created a really interesting Active technology. The construction of the saddle allows a degree of movement of the pelvis in the horizontal plane. The natural pelvic rocking movement evident in walking is now possible while cycling.
SQ Lab has created a technology to tune the saddle! Best understood in this video:
Finally, work out your saddle width. You can use the following professional guidelines to measure it, but in essence it is the distance between to two boney bits on your bottom - any old ruler and piece of paper will do.
Get perfect rearward support and an optimal pressure distribution from the wave-like shape and raised rear section, which reaches deep into the body structures resulting in improved power transmission.
The lowered nose in combination with the dip provides optimal pressure relief for the perineal area. The flat but slim SQlab MaxContact® saddle nose and the firm padding of the 612 were both specifically designed for the needs on the road bike.
The SQlab active technology allows the saddle to follow the biomechanical motion when pedalling resulting in increased comfort, mobilisation of the spinal discs and reduced pressure to the sit bones.
The new e-bike saddle 6OX combines the advantages of the successful saddle models ERGOWAVE® and ERGOLUX®. As part of the product development, the shape of the saddle was adapted and perfected for the special use on the E-MTB as well as for the Gravity Bike.
The wave shaped 6OX profile which contours from the rear to the front offers a perfect form-fit shape for most sit bones. The raised back section provides more rearward support and ensures efficient power transmission. The grip material on the raised back provides additional support to the rear. In addition, the saddle cover is robust, especially at the edges.
The level and lowered saddle nose applies less pressure to the sensitive areas of men and women alike. For an even better pressure relief, especially on long technical climbs, the saddle nose of the 6OX became a little bit wider, but just as flat and with largest possible surface area. The padding was designed for the specific needs on the E-MTB with perfect dampening properties for rough off-road terrain.
Due to these modifications, the 6OX is the ideal saddle for long and steep climbs on the E-MTB and at the same time, even on bikes without an engine, it provides an optimum relief. The wave shaped 6OX profile which contours from the rear to the front offers a perfect form-fit shape for most sitbones.
